Yuanyi factory's Fiber Optic Dome Closure (also known as a butt closure) is a single-ended protective enclosure used in outdoor fiber networks to house and protect splices. Unlike inline closures where cables enter from both ends, all cables go in and out through the same base plate. This design provides better fiber management, more reliable sealing, and greater flexibility for aerial, underground, or pedestal installations.
Most dome closures use either gel or heat-shrink technology to achieve IP68 water and dust protection. Gel-based seals, such as those used in many Yuanyi models, are re-enterable and allow technicians to add or remove cables without special tools.
Inside the closure, fibers are routed into stackable splice trays that provide bend radius protection (typically 40mm). Yuanyi dome closures support splice capacities ranging from 24 to 288 splices, with modular trays that make installation and maintenance straightforward.
The housing of Fiber Optic Dome Closure is made from impact-resistant polymer or polypropylene, offering UV protection and IK10 impact resistance for harsh outdoor environments.
FTTH (Fiber to the Home): Connecting feeder cables to distribution cables.
Long-Haul Networks: Splicing two large cables on a backbone route.
Mid-Span Access: Extracting a few fibers to a branch line without cutting the main cable.
| Factor | Consideration |
| Splice capacity | 24–288 splices typical (e.g., Yuanyi YY-D series) |
| Cable diameter | Ports should fit 2mm micro-cables up to 30mm main cables |
| Environment | IP68 required for flooded manholes; UV protection for aerial use |
| Re-entry needs | Gel sealing is best for frequent access |
Yuanyi offers cost-effective dome closures that meet IP68 standards and are widely used in FTTH and outside plant (OSP) projects.
